Not every computer problem needs a workshop visit. If you’re in Cheshire — Cheadle Hulme, Wilmslow, Stockport, Alderley Edge or anywhere nearby — many software faults can be diagnosed and fixed remotely using a secure screen-sharing connection, often the same day.
You don’t need to disconnect anything, carry your computer anywhere, or wait for a home visit. Once we establish a secure connection, I can see your screen and work on the problem as if I were sitting in front of your machine.
Remote repair is often the fastest and most cost-effective option for software issues. If your problem needs physical access (hardware fault, screen damage, etc.), I’ll tell you honestly and recommend a workshop repair instead.
- No travel required — fixed from wherever you are
- Same-day availability — often started within hours
- Secure connection — encrypted, you stay in control throughout
- Fixed pricing — you know the cost before we start
- No fix, no fee — if I can’t resolve it remotely, you don’t pay
How secure is it?
The connection is fully encrypted. You can see everything I’m doing on your screen at all times, and you can end the session instantly. No files are copied, no personal data is accessed.
What do I need?
Just an internet connection and the ability to get to your desktop. I’ll walk you through the simple setup — it takes about 60 seconds.
Quick question?
Call 0161 428 8882 — I’ll tell you if remote repair is suitable for your issue.
What can be fixed remotely?
Remote repair works well for software and configuration issues. If the computer powers on and connects to the internet, there’s a good chance I can help remotely.
Virus & malware
- Pop-ups and suspicious behaviour
- Browser hijacks
- Ransomware assessment
- Deep scan and cleanup
- Security software setup
Slow performance
- Startup programs bloating boot time
- Disk cleanup and optimisation
- Windows update problems
- Background processes consuming resources
- Advising whether an SSD upgrade is worthwhile
Email & software
- Outlook and email account issues
- Microsoft 365 setup and problems
- Printer configuration
- Software installation and updates
- Windows settings and errors
When remote repair isn’t the right option
I’ll always be upfront with you. Remote repair is not suitable when:
- The computer won’t boot or reach the desktop
- There’s no internet connection
- The fault is hardware-related (screen, hinge, charging port, overheating)
- Parts need replacing (hard drive, RAM, SSD)
- The issue needs extended testing under controlled conditions
In these cases, a workshop repair with collection and return is usually the best route. I’ll tell you which option makes more sense for your specific problem.
How remote repair works
- Call or message — describe the symptoms and I’ll confirm whether remote repair is suitable.
- Simple setup — I send you a small program to run (no installation needed). It creates a secure connection in about 60 seconds.
- I diagnose and fix — you can watch everything on screen. I explain what I’m doing as I go.
- Session ends — the connection closes. The software doesn’t stay on your machine.
You stay in control throughout. You can see my cursor, watch everything I do, and end the session at any time.
Remote repair pricing
Remote repair is charged at a fixed price — you know the cost before we start, and it doesn’t change no matter how long the session takes.
If I can’t resolve the issue remotely, you don’t pay. I’ll recommend the best next step (usually a workshop repair with collection/return).

Frequently asked questions — Remote repair
Is remote computer repair safe?
Yes. The connection is encrypted end-to-end. You can see everything I’m doing on screen, and you can disconnect at any time. No files are copied, no personal data is accessed.
Do I need to install software?
You’ll run a small program, but it doesn’t install anything permanently. Once the session ends, the program stops. You can delete it afterwards if you prefer.
How long does a remote session take?
It depends on the problem. Simple fixes can take 15–30 minutes. More complex issues (virus cleanup, Windows repair) may take 1–2 hours. You’ll get an estimate before we start.
What if you can't fix it remotely?
You don’t pay. If the issue needs physical access, I’ll explain why and recommend the best next step — usually a workshop repair with collection and return.
Do you work on Macs remotely?
Yes — remote support works on both Windows and Mac. Let me know your system when you get in touch and I’ll confirm compatibility.
Where are you based?
Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire. But remote repair works regardless of your location — as long as your computer connects to the internet, I can help.
