Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 3 October 2026
These Terms & Conditions apply to repair, support, data recovery, upgrade and other IT services provided by Dreambytes Computers.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

2. Quotations and authorisation
Where reasonably possible, Dreambytes will provide a quotation or agreed price before chargeable repair work is carried out.
No additional chargeable work will normally be undertaken without the customer’s approval.
A quotation may need to be revised if additional faults, damage or requirements are discovered after inspection. Where this happens, the customer will be contacted before additional chargeable work proceeds.
3. Diagnostics
A diagnostic charge may apply where diagnostic work has been carried out and the customer chooses not to proceed with the recommended repair.
Any applicable diagnostic charge will be explained before the equipment is accepted or before significant diagnostic work begins.
Where equipment is found to be beyond economical repair, Dreambytes may waive a diagnostic charge at its discretion where this has been agreed as part of the service.
4. Collection and return
Dreambytes provides collection and return services within its normal service area where agreed.
Collection or return times are estimates unless a specific time has expressly been agreed.
The customer is responsible for ensuring that somebody is available at the agreed address to hand over or receive the equipment.
5. Customer data and backups
Computer repair and diagnostic work can involve a risk of data loss, particularly where storage devices are failing, operating systems are corrupt, malware is present or major hardware changes are required.
Customers are responsible for maintaining appropriate backups of important data wherever reasonably possible.
Dreambytes will take reasonable care when working with customer equipment and data but cannot guarantee that data will always be preserved during diagnosis or repair.
This does not exclude liability where loss results from a failure by Dreambytes to exercise reasonable care and skill.
6. Passwords and access information
The customer may be asked to provide login credentials, encryption recovery information or other access details where reasonably necessary to diagnose or complete an authorised repair.
Such information will only be used for the purpose of completing the agreed service.
Where a customer does not wish to provide a password, some testing or verification may not be possible.
7. Data recovery
Data recovery is a best-efforts service and no specific amount of recoverable data can be guaranteed unless expressly confirmed in writing.
The condition of failed storage devices can deteriorate without warning, and attempts to access a failing device may in some cases result in further deterioration.
Where appropriate, Dreambytes may recommend that a device is referred to a specialist data-recovery laboratory.
No guarantee can be given that a specialist recovery attempt will be successful.
8. Replacement parts
Replacement parts may be new, original equipment manufacturer parts, manufacturer-compatible parts, refurbished parts or tested used parts depending on availability, suitability, price and the customer’s requirements.
Where this distinction is material to the repair, the customer will be informed.
9. Special-order parts
Parts ordered specifically for a customer’s repair may not always be cancellable or returnable once ordered, particularly where the supplier treats the item as special order or where it has already been fitted.
This does not affect any rights the customer may have where a supplied part is faulty, misdescribed or otherwise does not meet applicable legal requirements.
10. Repair times
Any repair timescale given is an estimate unless expressly agreed otherwise.
Repairs may be delayed by parts availability, supplier delays, additional faults, specialist work, manufacturer restrictions or other circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Customers will be kept informed where a significant delay becomes apparent.
11. Liquid damage
Liquid-damaged equipment can develop additional faults after initial inspection or repair because corrosion and contamination may continue to affect components.
A device that appears to operate normally following cleaning or repair may subsequently develop further symptoms.
Any warranty relating to liquid-damage work applies only to the specific work or parts supplied and does not constitute a guarantee that unrelated or consequential liquid damage will not occur.
12. Malware, software and operating systems
Where malware removal, operating-system repair or software troubleshooting is undertaken, Dreambytes will take reasonable steps to restore normal operation.
No security service can guarantee that a computer will remain free from future malware, compromise or software faults after it is returned to the customer.
The customer remains responsible for future software use, passwords, updates and security practices.
13. Software licences and customer accounts
The customer is responsible for ensuring that they hold valid licences for commercial software installed on their equipment.
Dreambytes will not knowingly install unlicensed or unlawfully obtained software.
The customer remains responsible for access to Microsoft, Apple, Google and other third-party accounts and for complying with the terms of those providers.
14. Third-party and specialist repairs
Some repairs may require specialist equipment or expertise and may be referred to an appropriate third-party repair specialist.
Where this is necessary, Dreambytes remains the customer’s point of contact unless otherwise agreed.
The customer will be informed where referral materially affects the quotation or nature of the work.
15. Manufacturer warranties
Independent repair or opening of equipment may in some circumstances affect a manufacturer’s warranty or support arrangements.
The customer should tell Dreambytes before work begins if maintaining a manufacturer’s warranty is particularly important.
16. Existing faults and condition
Dreambytes is not responsible for faults, damage, wear or defects that existed before equipment was accepted for repair.
Older or physically damaged equipment can sometimes fail during otherwise reasonable diagnostic or repair work due to the underlying condition of the device.
Where this occurs, Dreambytes will explain what has happened and what options are available.
17. Payment
Payment is normally due when the repair or service is completed unless another arrangement has been agreed.
Equipment may be retained until payment of the agreed amount has been received, subject to applicable law.
18. Uncollected equipment
If equipment cannot be returned because a customer stops responding, Dreambytes will make reasonable attempts to contact the customer using the details provided.
Equipment will not be disposed of without reasonable attempts to contact the owner and reasonable notice.
Where equipment remains unclaimed for an extended period, Dreambytes may take appropriate steps in accordance with applicable law.
19. Repair warranties
Where a specific warranty applies to a repair or replacement part, the details will be stated on the invoice, quotation or other repair documentation.
A repair warranty normally relates only to the specific fault repaired and the parts or work supplied.
It does not cover unrelated faults, accidental damage, misuse, liquid damage occurring after repair, malware, customer-installed software, failure of other aged components or subsequent damage caused by third parties.
Nothing in this section limits statutory rights.
20. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.
In particular, these terms do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation or any statutory rights that cannot legally be excluded.
Dreambytes will exercise reasonable care and skill when providing services.
Where the customer is acting in the course of a business, Dreambytes will not be liable for indirect or consequential business losses such as loss of profit, loss of business opportunity or interruption of business except where such liability cannot lawfully be excluded.
21. Consumer rights
Consumer services must be provided with reasonable care and skill, within a reasonable time where no time has been agreed, and for a reasonable charge where no price has been agreed.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to remove or reduce rights provided by UK consumer law.
22. Remote support
Where remote support is provided, the customer authorises Dreambytes to access the relevant computer for the duration of the agreed support session.
The customer may end the remote session at any time.
Remote access is not maintained after the service has finished unless an ongoing support arrangement has separately been agreed.
23. Website information
Information on the Dreambytes website is provided in good faith and may be updated from time to time.
Website information is general in nature and does not constitute a binding quotation unless Dreambytes expressly confirms a price or service directly with the customer.
24. Changes to these Terms
Dreambytes may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.
The version in force when a repair or service is agreed will normally apply to that service.
25. Governing law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Consumers retain any legal rights relating to jurisdiction that cannot lawfully be excluded.
